Radios of today are either OSI Layer 2, meaning they add framing information or OSI Layer 3 which means they add switching/routing information.
Since in a network, the transmission device, whether wire or wireless is terminating into a switch or router to have a radio that was performing same, redundant functions as the switch/router seem inefficient. NeXXCom contents that as video application and network complexity grow, a radio that doesn’t emulate a wire, or isn’t OSI Layer 1, will in time harm the network by congesting the bit velocity through the network and impairing the user experience.
All NeXXCom products and our product strategy remedy this. We have products here and now, including our MESH solution, which is video optimized. Our transmission solutions are at OSI Layer 1 and/or about to be delivered at Layer 1.
